Vietnam War Veterans Day

I know it is very unusual for me to post so many times in one week, but today is Vietnam Veterans Day. My Grandpa and all five of my Great Uncles served during the Vietnam War, so I couldn’t just let this one slide past without doing a post — even if it is short. 😉

We have so much to thank our Vietnam Veterans for. They were never given the gratitude and welcome home that they deserved when they returned from the war, and I think that is one of the saddest parts of our history. They were met with looks of shame from the many who were protesting the war. They were spit on and called terrible names — all because they were willing to serve their country at a time when it was not popular to do so.

There is so much I could say about our Vietnam War heroes! They were amazing. Have you ever stopped to really think about the things they faced from their own countrymen? There was nothing honorable about the way many people treated our military during and directly after the Vietnam War. Still, those who served during Vietnam, stepped up to the plate because they knew our nation’s freedom was at stake. They went against what was popular among many of their peers and defended their country with honor and bravery. They came home to an ungrateful nation.

If you know any Vietnam War Veterans, please take the time today to tell them, “Thank you and welcome home!” They deserve our respect and honor for their selflessness and sacrifice. 💚

    • Aww, you are welcome! Our Vietnam Veterans are some of my personal heroes. (Of course I might be slightly biased 😉) But they definetly were some of America’s finest!! My heart breaks that they never were given the respect they deserved.
We are grateful for your grandpa’s service and sacrifice! ❤

  3. AHHHHHHHHHHH, I LITERALLY HAD BEEN LEARNING ABOUT THE VIETNAM WAR TODAY!!!!!!! HOW DID YOU KNOW THIS??? DO YOU STALK ME THROUGH MY WINDOW?!

But ahhh, you’re correct!! My history teacher was telling us about how horribly the soldiers were being treated; and man, that almost made me cry. So definitely, we should thank them! And wow, five great uncles and a grandfather?? HUGE thanks to them!! 🙂

It was shameful the way that they were treated. It breaks my heart. But keep up the good work studying! Learning their stories is a wonderful way to show your gratitude.
