If The Foundations Be Destroyed

In the day in which we are living, it is a common thing for the Christian heritage of America to be brought under attack. Many seek to destroy the foundations on which we were built, and undermine the Hand of Christ in our nation’s founding.

It makes me sick to see the attack going on seemingly unopposed. Christians in this world have thrown in the towel in far too many areas, and now we are beginning to see its devastating effects.

Let’s think about just what our heritage means to us today. What if America hadn’t been founded on principles from God’s Word? What if God’s people hadn’t played a tremendous role in founding our nation?

The answer is more devastating than I think you realize. If the foundations on which we are built, are destroyed by those who oppose them, then everything our country has stood for will be destroyed.

Why is it that we have the laws we do in our nation? Why is it that it is against the law for someone to steal? Or for a man to kill another human being? Well, the principles are from the Bible of course! The Bible is the very basis for our most basic laws! If the foundations are destroyed, we have no leg to stand on.

Lying, stealing, murder—they are all things that are scripturally wrong and are presented as such in our nation’s laws. But if the foundation of our Christian heritage is undermined and attacked, then what will happen with our most basic laws? If God’s Word is not the basis for these things, then what authority is there behind them?

It isn’t only our laws that are under attack as a result of our Christian heritage being undermined. If children are taught that God had no hand in our founding, then why should they care about the very freedoms that result from His hand being in it?

Our nation was founded on the concept and truth that there are certain rights that God has given us which can not be taken from us. No man has given us our rights, and no man can take them away. Our founders recognized the truth that our freedoms and rights come from God and not from any man. It is the idea that is the foundation of America.

Once our Christian heritage is removed from the forefront and attacked, that basic idea and truth will no longer be recognized. When that happens, then indeed our nation is in a dire strait. How can we defend the freedom that we cling so dearly to, when we deny the Power that created and preserves it?

Now, I realize that not all of America’s founders were believers. In fact there were many who were not. There is no denying however, the fact that there were many who were in fact born again believers, and they played unparalleled roles in shaping this great nation that is our’s. God’s hand was moving—molding, shaping, and building us to be the nation we have been. The truth of this fact is being pushed into the background by those who would undermine it, but it doesn’t make it any less the truth.

The dogged attack on our Christian heritage is strategically planned. Let there be no question in your mind about that. One of the biggest ways it is being done, is through modifying the history being taught to our children. Our Christian heritage isn’t taught anymore, and it is reaping havoc in our nation.

Are you going to be one of the believers who simply doesn’t care and throws in the towel or are you going to fight back against the attack on our Christian heritage?

Go do your research. Find out how believers played a role in founding America. Go research how the blood of godly men was shed for our freedom. Study how the persecution of God’s people in America eventually led to the liberty we enjoy today.

Don’t let our heritage be swept mindlessly into the background—lost to the raging waves of time. Go and seek The Timeless Anchor in our history and see His hand moving!

  1. Ooh, I loved this!!! The verse you chose for this blog post title reminded me immediately of a ministry our church has ideally called “Foundations.” Foundations is centered on bringing families together to serve Christ; so I was over here freaking out over the title…LOL!!

And, ironically/ideally enough, I’ll be studying American history this year Lord willing in school. So I think this should be profitable. Already loved world history (well, not everything that happened, but you know what I mean). 🙂

    • Oh how neat! That is an incredible verse to be sure. I am glad you liked the title! 😄

That is really wonderful, Amelia! Yes, dive deeper into America’s Christian heritage and founding! It is truly amazing to study. Hopefully you will enjoy it as much as you did world history. I personally loved it even more than I did world history. 😉
Thank you so much for reading!

    • Yes, that is so true! God’s Word is so important to who we are and what we stand for.

Yay! If that’s the case, then my post accomplished what I prayed it would! Christians need to start doing their research and then teaching it to the next generations!
You are welcome! Thank you for reading it!

  2. Very well put! I am thankful my freedoms are not given by man. Man is ever-changing and unstable; especially without Christ. Our nation would likely never have prospered the way it has without this foundation. A biblical foundation!

  3. Amen, Alyssa, and exceptionally stated. We have taken “turn the other cheek” too far and are now pathetic pacifists and wimps instead of courageous warriors determined to protect the land and freedom God has so generously granted us.

    • Thanks ❤
Amen. It is so shameful. The godly men and woman who have gone before us would be absolutely repulsed if they could see how pathetic we are today. They sacrificed everything for the truth of the Bible and the freedom we enjoy today. Many of them paid in blood.
Yet we stand by apathetically indifferent.
