Mid-Year Book Freak-Out Tag

So today is something totally different than what I usually do, but I wanted to change things up and bit, and just have some fun. Thank you to Katja for creating this tag, and letting me steal it!

1. Best book you’ve read so far in 2022:

Best book I’ve read this year? Of course the top Book being the Bible. But set that aside as a given, the best book would be Preacher on the Run by Jayna Baas.

I loved this book. It was so well written. And I appreciated the time era that it was set in. I mean who doesn’t love a good book written about Baptist regulators fighting for freedom?

2. Best sequel you’ve read so far in 2022:

Ok…so I just realized I haven’t read any sequels this year…so I guess that sums this up.

3. New release you haven’t read yet but want to:

There are two many to list them all. But I have been looking forward to reading Madisyn Carlin’s new release, DECEIVED. And I actually just won it in a giveaway, so I hope to start reading it soon!

4. Most anticipated release for the second half of 2022:

I am looking forward to a certain release coming out at the end of the year, but I don’t think I’m allowed to talk about it until the author has officially announced it. I had the chance to Beta read it though, and wow I can’t wait for it to be released!

5. Biggest disappointment in 2022:

Honestly I don’t remember the name of the book, but it was a historical non-fiction, and I was super excited to read it, but I had to stop reading it because it was so awful. Definitely a huge disappointment.

6. Biggest surprise in 2022:

Ohh, I actually had a few of these. The top one though was probably Four-Four-Two by Dean Hughes. I was astonished that I was able to find a war book that was actually decent! I really enjoyed it, and am definitely going to be looking for more books by that author in the future.

7. Favourite new author in 2022:

I can’t say that I have a favorite new author. I mean, I don’t even know that I could choose one favorite author ever. I’ve read some books by an author that I’ve loved, but then some other books by the same author, I didn’t enjoy. So it’s kinda a relative thing.

8. Newest fictional crush/ship in 2022:

No answer for this one.

9. Newest favourite character in 2022:

Actually the character I’m thinking of, I can’t mention by name because the book hasn’t come out yet. But let me just assure you that they are downright epic.

10. Book that made you cry in 2022:

There have been several of these so far. But the top one was Oh, the Fallen by Abigail Kay Harris. That book…let me tell y’all it was one that needed lots of Kleenex and chocolate to go with it. That’s all I’m sayin’.

11. Book that made you happy in 2022:

This is maybe a little bit of a silly one, because it’s a kid’s book. But one that made me happy was Otis by Loren Long. The reason it made me happy, was because it has become one of my nephews all time favorite books. So seeing him happy when I read it to him, makes me happy.

12. Favourite book-to-film adaptation you saw in 2022:

By far, hands down, Little Women. Yes, I’ve seen this book-to-film adaption about a hundred times, but it still counts, right? I mean how can you go wrong with Little Women? They did a really good job making it into a movie. The characters and the story line always just kill me.

13. Favourite bookish post you’ve done so far in 2022:

I suddenly realized I haven’t done that many “bookish posts” really. So…I guess maybe I need to do more.

14. Most beautiful book you’ve bought so far in 2022:

Back to Preacher On the Run by Jayna Baas. Yes, I know I’ve already used this one about a million times, but the cover is gorgeous and when I finally bought it, I just wanted to spend the entire day staring at the cover.

15. Books you need to read by the end of 2022:

Currently my bookshelf is full of books that I really need to read. Where to even start.

Broken Crown by Olive Creed (I won it in a giveaway, so we shall see how it is). The Day Pearl Harbor Was Bombed by George Sullivan. Hope Unseen by Scotty Smiley.

Those are a just a few that I’m looking forward to reading. Life is crazy busy for me right now, but I’m hoping once fall and winter come maybe I’ll have more time for reading.

Thanks again to Katja for leaving the tag open for others to use. Hopefully y’all enjoyed it!

What are your answers to these questions? I’d love to hear!

  1. Both Little Women adaptations are such fun! Usually I’m finicky about book-to-movies, but I quite enjoyed both.

Aw! Hope you like “DECEIVED”! (And it was fun seeing that you won it!). And “Preacher on the Run”! Yes! One of the best historical fiction books *ever*. I read and reviewed it on Election Day, 2020. Quite the disappointment to go from that back to the real world. “Oh, the Fallen” is on my TBR! It looks like it’d be a tear-jerker.

    • Aren’t they though? I always love to watching them. And yeah, I’m picky when it comes to that sort of thing too.

I am soooo looking forward to starting it! I’m sure I’ll love it.
Agh, isn’t it epic?? I mean talk about a good piece of historical literature. It had me so pumped after reading it! 😆
Oh, The Fallen is definitely a sad one, so be ware!
