Moments To Cherish// Spring 2024

Spring is the most beautiful time of year in my neck of the woods. Everything is fresh and new, green and full of life.

It’s a breath of fresh air after the harshness of winter. Every year when the wind begins to turn warm and the prairie grasses start to come alive, my entire being bursts with anticipation for the beauties of spring. The first rays of spring begin to peak through the gloom of winter and I can’t contain my urge to be outside.

I suppose they call it Spring Fever — that restless feeling that wells inside you with the coming of the season filled with new life.

This spring was no different for me. I reveled in the ability to walk barefoot outside and feel the soil beneath my feet. Every new sprig of greenery that popped up had me itching to put away the heavy coats and sweaters of winter in exchange for the delicate fabrics and colors of spring.

And yes, I fell into the trap of providing a home for a few new houseplants which now take residence in my bedroom.

Looking back on this season in 2024, I relish the beauty with which it graced my corner of the world. So many wonderful things took place.

Waiting in anticipation for the dainty flowers to bloom and then soaking in every vibrant color that God created them with. Feeling the rich soil in your hands while you work in your gardens. Rays of sunshine warming you through after the chill of winter.

Being reminded that time stands still for nothing, that every second is a gift that is meant to be cherished. Life changes and transforms, but our Anchor never does.

Reveling in the sweet smell after the rain, the peace after the storm, and the hope of a new day. Embracing life’s sweet moments that were meant to be cherished.

The wonder of new life all around us. Welcoming a new baby into the family. Sweet little calves, kids, chicks, and ducklings that speak of the power of God through creation of life.

Most importantly, being reminded yet again that seasons come and go in our lives for a purpose. I still can’t wrap my mind around the fact that spring has already been here and gone. Summer is part way over. And autumn will be here soon.

Who else is struggling to comprehend that?

Regardless of the changing seasons though, I’m thankful my Anchor remains steadfast and strong.

  2. I caught myself marveling at a spider web this morning, one direction could barely see it, in another was this spectacular piece of art…made by a bug.
Every spring and summer, as one bloom rolls into another, I’m reminded of the splendor that Solomon couldn’t even match.
I watch the correlation of Millers(as annoying as they are) with the birds “raising kids” and the new “chicks” learning to fly…or run into a window. (Unhurt of course) ….even the sparrows!
Some winters, though they have their own beauty, are long but will never match the springs/summers that will come.

This post just made me feel good!
