This seems to be a hot topic currently, with the overturning of Roe vs Wade only a short while ago. While I typically stick to History posts, today I decided to share something that has been on my heart.

It has been a time of great rejoicing for me as we have been witness to a historic decision by the Supreme Court—the overturning of Roe vs Wade. I cannot stress enough that this is history in the making. We are literally living history right now. Current events are the history of tomorrow and are just as important to keep up with as past history!

With the overturning of Roe, we have seen a lot of demonstrations by those who are pro-murder. (Yes, I said pro-murder, because abortion is murder and we need to stop renaming sin. Call it what it is.)

Watching those who have been part of these demonstrations has honestly broken my heart. You know what I see?

I see so many women who have been blinded by Satan to believe lies about themselves. I see a generation of women who are being raised to be loud and contentious. They are being taught and encouraged to be rebellious and stubborn.

While watching some footage of protests taking place outside of the Supreme Court building a few weeks ago, I was heartbroken over it. These women were screaming obscenities and carrying signs flaunting their wickedness. There was nothing feminine about any of them—from the way they were dressed, to the way they talked. Everything about them was unfeminine. These are the women who claim to be “feminists”, yet nothing about them even closely resembles womanhood or being feminine.

Honestly it is no wonder there are so many guys today who have nothing good to say about women. It’s because they don’t see a clear example of what womanhood truly is. These type of loud, stubborn, contentious women hold no beauty or pleasantness.

Sometimes we as believers lose sight of Biblical Femininity and how we need to be portraying womanhood to a lost world around us. Let’s look at just a few contrasts between today’s feminist and the Bible’s feminine woman.

1. Independent or Dependent?

Today’s modern woman is told that they need to be independent. We can do what we want, when we want, and no-one can tell us otherwise—especially not a man. We don’t need help from any man. That’s the mindset the world tells us to have.

The Bible paints a different picture of what we should be though.

“That they may teach the young women…to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.” ~Titus 2:4,5

It is not a bad thing to be dependent on the men in our lives. They are supposed to be our protectors, providers, and leaders. When we allow them to be those things for us, it is a beautiful thing. God’s design was intended to respect us, cherish, and keep us safe.

I realize sometimes the guys in our life tease us about needing them (at least mine do 😉). But really we should be dependent on them. And if they were completely honest and truthful, they would admit that they like to be needed.

Dependence is nothing to be ashamed of.

2. Tough or Strong?

Women are taught to be tough. The women who support feminism are proud to claim that they are as tough as any man, maybe even more so. It’s portrayed to be a bad thing for a woman to be soft or to nurture the tender instinct that God has placed in each of us. We are expected to carry ourselves in ways that reveal our independence and strength, because we don’t need a man.

As women, God has placed in our hearts a special tenderness that is to be nurtured and protected. It is an instinct that causes us to be compassionate, caring, and gentle. There is certainly nothing wrong in being tender. It is something God has placed inside us.

Being a godly woman does not mean that we are weak. Women can be strong without being tough. The Proverbs 31 women is described as having strength and honor clothing her. A woman who lives in God’s will for her life is indeed a strong woman. It takes strength to show Christ’s love to a lost world around us. It takes strength to exercise control over our tongues and actions in a way that would bring glory to our KING. True strength is found in a meek and quiet spirit.

These feminists who are flaunting their “rights”, do not have true strength. They don’t have strength of character. They don’t have strength of purity. Nothing about their actions or ideologies portray true strength.

3. Speak or Meek?

Ok, so this is a funny title here, but just hear me out. So many of these feminists laud the fact that they have big mouths. I don’t mean that in an unkind way. It’s just the truth of how it is. Think about it. They are not afraid to get in your face and attack anyone who goes against them—especially if it happens to be a man. They push the unbiblical thought process that woman can do or be anything they want—preachers, leaders in government, etc.

They encourage women to be loud and contentious. The Bible describes this type of women in a pretty bad light.

“It is better to dwell in the wilderness, than with a contentious and angry woman.” ~Proverbs 21:19

God intended women to be meek. I looked up the definition of the word meek, and it said that it meant “to be gentle.” Being meek or gentle, is the exact opposite of these women who flaunt feminism. In a world where women are loud and rough, we need to be a generation of women who show the world meek and quiet spirits. It is our beautiful calling!

We have a chance to show the world what true womanhood is. Let’s not be the type of women who are loud and contentious. Feminism shouldn’t define us. God’s definition of who we are as women is totally and completely sufficient.
